Iron-removing glaze ink: Tackle yellowing, crazing, and pinholing on the glaze surface, ensuring a stable baseline for ceramic inkjet quality.

2026-08-12
Anyone who works with ceramic digital inkjet printing knows: The formulation is fine, the sintering parameters haven’t been changed, and the equipment is operating normally. However, the finished glazed surfaces have repeatedly fallen short. —— The base color is grayish, the light-colored glaze has a yellowish tinge, the transparent glaze exhibits mottling, and the polished surface shows sporadic pinholes; batch-to-batch color variations are inconsistent, sometimes significant and sometimes minimal.
Most of the time, the problem isn’t with color matching at all—it’s hidden in the glaze‑making ink. Trace iron impurities 。
Many companies tend to overlook that the raw powder, solvents, grinding processes, and even free iron, iron oxides, and ferric hydroxide colloids introduced by pipeline wear in glaze‑grade inkjet inks—though present at extremely low levels—can, during high‑temperature firing, directly disrupt the glaze’s color‑forming system, becoming hidden culprits behind inconsistent product quality.
Why must iron be precisely removed from glaze ink?
✅ Pure white glaze, light color schemes: slight yellowing and darkening, reduced translucency; high-end tiles are effectively downgraded.
✅ Colored glaze: hue shift and uneven colorfastness; within the same batch, products exhibit mottled or inconsistent colors.
✅ Fine inkjet coating: Iron impurities cause localized color buildup, pinholes, and glaze shrinkage, leading to a sharp increase in the defect rate of finished products.
✅ Long-term production: Iron impurities accumulate and clog the print heads, resulting in ink starvation, ink splatter, frequent shutdowns for cleaning, and a significant increase in consumable costs.
Unlike conventional iron removal from slurry, Iron removal in glaze inkjet inks demands precision that is a hundred times more stringent. The ink features an ultra‑fine particle size, a stable formulation, and stringent flow‑property requirements. A crude iron‑removal approach not only fails to eliminate colloidal iron impurities but also risks destabilizing the ink’s dispersion system, leading to sedimentation, layering, and viscosity fluctuations—factors that directly compromise the smoothness of inkjet printing.
Professional glaze ink with iron removal, addressing a core industry pain point.
In response to the characteristics of ceramic digital glaze inks, precisely remove impurities generated during raw material processing, grinding, and conveying. Free iron, fine iron filings, iron oxides, and colloidal iron impurities Without altering the ink’s original formulation, viscosity, leveling properties, or color‑development characteristics, it achieves highly efficient purification and is compatible with a wide range of inkjet inks for glossy glazes, matte glazes, decal‑transfer glazes, and artistic glazes.
